e-kie asked: What does your art really mean to you? I'm willing to understand your prospective
Thanks for the question man!
I think when I tend to put to much meaning on something I’m creating I start to get stopped. For a long time I wouldn’t share my work with anyone because I didn’t feel like it had a message or some heady concept behind it. I just stopped sharing it but continued to do art everyday. Somewhere along the way I came to realize that drawing and doing artwork was like an unraveling journey for me, a meditation, that was enough. I started to embrace it. I gave up that my work was not enough and started putting it out there sharing it big time. To this day I still forget and start to slide back into thinking that it should be something more, so I started a practice of writing a little note to myself after every drawing session. Basically saying “My work provides for me a clearing, a meditation, joy . What the viewer brings to it is their own personal experience and emotion, hopefully joy.”
I would love to have a thriving career as an artist, utilizing my creative abilities to the fullest, providing abundance. I think the way to have this show up is to be grateful for what you have, to embrace it wholly, that way your more receptive to it showing up in your life. I heard a great quote once “The only movie thats playing in the brain is what we have the ability to see. What we have the ability to consciously project.” What are your thoughts doing to you?
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to presence all this for me once again. Time to do some artwork!
pandairis asked: I love your style of drawing, can I ask what kind of pens you use?
Hi and thanks! I use sharpie ultra fine pen, not because it gives me a real fine line but because it sort of blobs up if I hold it to the paper too long and I sort of like that. I draw on Canson Sketch Esquiesse/Croquis paper (not real expensive) which also adds to the effect. I like drawings where you can see that a real person had something to do with it. You know what I mean. Lately I’ve been drawing large with a brush using acrylic mixed to ink consistency. Sometimes I just want to physically get into drawing , way too much sitting in front of the computer. Thanks for asking. Tell me what you like!
